The Colossus of Rhodes was a giant, bronze statue of Helios that welcomed ships into the city and the island of Rhodes. Willie Mays, who I believe is the greatest baseball player to play baseball, is depicted in the same way, and greets ships as they sail towards Oracle Park, where the San Francisco Giants play.
